October's pattern release
It's today! Come stitch a sequoia and quaking aspen!
Today’s the day! I’ve been milling away on two new patterns for you: the sequoia and quaking aspen. A little about each tree’s pattern:
The Quaking Aspen
When I was deciding what color to do this tree I, for obvious reasons, leaned towards doing the fall version of the aspen. But! I included an alternate color guide if you find yourself wanting to stitch a green tree. My favorite part of this tree is the brilliant white of the trunk and the grey “eyes” that create its unique texture. Don’t be intimidated by all of those little leaves! They are just tiny little straight stitches and not as tedious as they seem.
The Sequoia
This pattern is definitely a step up in difficulty. I mean, look at that trunk! For this reason I say that it is geared towards stitchers with at least a bit of experience, but if you are a determined beginner I have total confidence you can stitch this tree! The bulk of the work in this pattern is, not surprisingly, the trunk. We use thread painting techniques to add value, texture and depth to the bark.
Each pattern includes:
Embroidery stitch guide
a visual tutorial in the stitches you’ll need to complete each project
Embroidery 101
all of the basic information you need to know to embroidery (how to thread your needle, tying off your thread, backing your hoop, etc.)
Drawing with thread tips
a few things that I always keep in mind as I approach thread as line that will help your tree look realistic
Color and stitch guide
a visual guide with every thread and stitch you’ll need for the project
Step by step instructions
instructions with over 50 photos to guide you every step of the way
Printable pattern
a pattern to trace and a label for your tree
